in full bloom
Spring has sprung! The days grow longer, the air gets warmer, and Summers County goes full bloom. The colors of spring fill the senses with trails full of blossoming trees and blooming wildflowers. There are plenty of opportunities to soak up nature and indulge this spring in our parks, on our trails, along the rivers, and throughout the Hinton Historic District.
our parks

Springtime in our parks is a pure delight. Enjoy one of our state parks at Pipestem Resort or Bluestone. Or discover our national parks at the New River Gorge National Park & Preserve or the Bluestone National Scenic River.
national historic district

The Hinton National Historic District is the perfect spring destination with its tree lined sidewalks, eclectic architecture, and rail history. Board Amtrak for a fun excursion to or from town. While here be sure to take a self guided walking tour, do some shopping, and grab a bite.
along the river

With plenty of rivers and lakes the opportunity to get on the water is literally everywhere. Go kayaking, fishing, or rent a boat from the marina and do some wildlife viewing. Hike alongside a national scenic river on the Bluestone Turnpike Trail or take in some waterfalls in the National Park at Sandstone Falls or along Big Branch Trail.
