about

Explore Summers County is powered by the New River Gateway Convention and Visitor Bureau.

We are the official marketing organization for Summers County, and it is our mission to strengthen the community by advancing economic growth and vitality through tourism.

what we do

CVBs are a key resource for visitors, convention, meeting, and event planners, tour operators and visitors. Our main purpose is to promote tourism in our county through marketing our assets. This includes advertising, creating and distributing brochures, maintaining a website and social media accounts, as well as managing a local Visitor Center for travelers where the can gather information on the area. The Visitor Center is open year round Mondays through Saturdays from 9:30am until 4:30pm.

funding

CVB's are funded primarily through occupancy taxes. Occupancy taxes are charged to those that stay overnight in hotels, motels, B&B's, and vacation rentals. 50% of this tax goes to CVB's with the remaining 50% going to local government (County Commission, and City).

CVB's are not funded by local citizens' taxes.
