Powered by the New River Gateway Convention and Visitor Bureau, Explore Summers County serves as the official destination marketing organization for Summers County, West Virginia.

Our goal is to help visitors plan meaningful trips while strengthening Summers County’s economy through tourism.​​​

Our Purpose

We exist to grow tourism in Summers County by showcasing our people, places, and experiences.

We support local businesses, assist travelers with trip planning, promote events and outdoor recreation, and operate the Summers County Visitor Center as a trusted resource for visitors.​​

​Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or your first visit to Summers County, we’re here to make it easier and more memorable.

 

How We Are Funded

The Convention and Visitor Bureau is funded through lodging occupancy taxes paid by overnight visitors staying in hotels, motels, B&Bs, and vacation rentals. These funds are reinvested directly into tourism marketing and economic development. No local citizen taxes are used to fund the CVB.

This funding helps promote Summers County as a travel destination while supporting long-term economic growth for the community.

Marketing Grant

The CVB Mini Marketing Grant Program exists to award funding to organizations hosting events within Summers County. In order to be awarded funding for your event you will need to read the criteria, fill out an application, and follow up after the event. These documents can be found below.
