Nestled in the Mountains

'Tis the season for fa-la-la-la-la's, decking the halls, and mistletoe! Spend your holidays nestled in the mountains of Summers County and make lasting memories while enjoying festive events, small town cheer, and cozy lodging with inspiring views.

Small towns are perfect for the holidays, and the Hinton Historic District is no exception. The Luminary Christmas Walk will put even the toughest of Bah Humbug's in the spirit of the season with a tour of Historic Churches led by drummers from the Greenbrier Academy. The annual Christmas Bazaar, parade and tree lighting is always a local favorite. Spend a day taking in the festive decorations and window displays in town as you browse unique shops like Boho, Otter & Oak, Grandma's House and others. Grab a bite to eat from The Market or Chestnut Revival and catch a movie at the historic Ritz Theater. Spend the night in a B&B or vacation rental. Check out the Guest House or Three Rivers Studios.

Get to know a local artist for the holidays! Art is inspirational and always makes great gifts. Discover the amazing work of Jeff Diehl at Lockbridge Pottery's Christmas Studio Show. Delight in the talent of Marcia Springston at Wake Robin Gallery's Open House. Stop by Rivertown Gallery on the 2nd floor of Otter & Oak and Back Alley Arts to shop local artist's work.

Top off the season with a Christmas Dinner at the Graham House. Spend an evening with light music and an amazing dinner with all the trimmings in this historic 1770's log cabin.

If you need some pampering for the holidays, then head over to Pipestem Spa & Event Center. Get a massage or a facial and rock out with their Christmas Bash.

Dreaming of a quiet place and a cozy space to spend the holidays? Our parks deliver quiet and cozy, as well as scenic and inspiring. Pipestem Resort State Park and Bluestone State Park are tucked away and offer peaceful trails and views for days with comfortable cabins to kick back in and relax. Spend some time cherishing your loved ones at McKeever Lodge overlooking the Bluestone Gorge. The lodge is decked out for the holidays and makes the perfect setting for well-deserved family time. Enjoy a Christmas Day Buffet or ring in the new year at Pipestem's Roaring 20's New Year's Eve Party where flappers & Gangsters are always welcome!

No matter how you celebrate, the holidays are always worth a trip to the mountains of Summers County, where peaceful meets playful!
