WINTER TRAILS WORTH HIKING

Overlook Trail at Bluestone State Park offers a steady, pleasant climb to scenic views of Bluestone Lake and the Lilly Bridge area. The trail is about 0.5 miles one way, making it a great short hike with a big payoff. If you want to go farther, you can connect with Boundary Trail or Big Pine Trail to extend your adventure.

Big Branch Falls is a local favorite and just five minutes from downtown Hinton. This loop comes in at just under two miles, and here is a pro tip, go left at the trail start for the best flow of the hike. Winter brings the falls to their fullest, creating an impressive, roaring cascade that makes the trek well worth it.
Keep in mind that higher water levels in winter can make the multiple creek crossings more challenging, so plan accordingly and use caution.

Not every great trail requires leaving town.
Downtown Hinton is incredibly walkable and full of history. Take a self-guided stroll through streets lined with beautiful architecture in a mix of styles, enjoy unique shops along the way, and soak in the character that makes this community so special. Cross the bridge for a great view of the Amtrak Passenger Depot (pictured left) and the New River, then loop back through town at your own pace.
