Pack a Picnic

Picture a nicely packed basket full of your favorite little foods and a quiet spot that feels like it was put there just for you. Yes that place exists, and you can find it in Summers County.

Woodsy picnic...

Some of our most favorite picnics have been spent in the woods beneath a tree canopy, with nature speaking lightly in the background. Find your woodsy spot along a trail and think of the calories you'll burn getting there! We recommend Heritage Point at Pipestem Resort for a picnic with a view or Rhododendron Trail at Bluestone State Park for that complete in the woods feeling.

Picnic along the water...

What's a picnic without a little bubbly (stream that is!)? Big Branch Trail and Sandstone Falls at the New River Gorge National River make the "picnic perfect" backdrops. Or load up the kayaks and find your own special spot on the riverbank (with three rivers, we have plenty of riverbanks).

Urban picnic...

And by urban we mean a quaint little town with unique features and eclectic architecture, like say the Hinton Historic District. Picnic in front of a colorful mural, on the lawn of the courthouse with its Victorian Romanesque adornment, or watch the train roll in from the Passenger Depot.

Wherever you decide to picnic, don't forget to pack the ants! #ExploreSummersCounty
